A champagne socialist reflects on Western culture and the Universe... and whilst gazing at his navel, he comes up with a lot of useless lint. It is the fruits of this navel-gazing that form the substance of this blog.

President Barack Obama.

I think Americans have voted for one of the most intelligent and capable people to have ever run for President, as well as one of the most compassionate and with a genuine interest in working with people. I congratulate you on your choice of President. I don't expect miracles, but I think that my bank balance in 2012 will be in the best possible circumstances given the financial crisis and I think that I will be proud of what our militaries do jointly. President Obama is a truly inspiring person. I stayed up til 4am to watch him be inaugurated and I am proud to say that I saw history being made.

I am young so I have not often seen history being made. Princess Diana's death. The Federal Apology to the Stolen Generations. The Inauguration of USA President Barack Obama.

I'll say it one more time: President Barack Obama.

When ever the L-RD will's us to get together we'll have some great conversation and fun correcting each other to use the right words.

Well, tell us when you go to Israel the next time.

I'm curious if the OP still has the same wide-eyed optimism he had during the inauguration. I realize not much about "the most transparent" administration in history is shown on US TV, let alone in Australia. Of course I imagine of anyone with "socialist" in their moniker, will be quite pleased with Obama.

Funny thing is, while he reveled in the election of Rudd, he is not at all happy with his performance.  I have not seen him write a lot, but I have heard that while Rudd pays a lot of lip service to the left down under, he has not done a lot for them.  So the promises of election have given way to the realities of governance.

And I do not think Rudd will survive the next election.  I hope that is one thing we have in common with the Aussies.  One term disasters.
