A champagne socialist reflects on Western culture and the Universe... and whilst gazing at his navel, he comes up with a lot of useless lint. It is the fruits of this navel-gazing that form the substance of this blog.
The nicest thing I've ever said or done

I had this letter published on September 11 2002 in The Age and the SMH.

Something incredible happened on September 11. What happened didn't create world headlines, but it did keep my grandma up all night. The world didn't change, but my life was better for it. Nothing came tumbling down; in fact, something beautiful was created.

My mother was born. Happy birthday, Mum.

To everyone, don't let anybody impair your view of what's beautiful in this world. For there is no greater terror than a world without love - and Mum, they can't crush my love for you.

Grow up and stop being so fucking sensitive. This is a beautiful statement of love to his Mum and yet you have to be so precious and offended. You know what, you're the sick one if you don't or can't understand the intent of this piece.

Champas, I know you probably don't need anyone else defending you, but you hadn't said anything so I thought I would. I thought your final sentence was absolutely beautiful. It had me thinking about my Mum and all the good she has done for me. Well said...

Cheers,

Maso

I wouldn't worry about him or "britman". They "were" one and the same and have been banished from JU by Karma......
